Guest and Pet Policies

The Artist’s Cottage is available as a fully equipped, private, two-bedroom home, where the ambiance and the breakfast are one of a kind. Our policies help us to provide consistent service and to assure that we are one of the best accommodations in the area, while at the same time allowing us to maintain a viable business. We invite you to review our policies prior to making a reservation and to call us with any questions.

Due to the wild nature of the landscape and the depths of the ponds on our property, children will need to be properly supervised. Please note that the rooms have a maximum occupancy of two guests each and we do not allow or provide air-mattresses or cots.

There is a minimum two-night stay. Smoking is not permitted inside the cottage; this includes vaping and e-cigarettes. Should cigarette smoke be detected in any of the rooms, an additional cleaning fee will be applied to your stay. The Artist’s Cottage is an intimate guest house with a maximum of four guests per stay. Visitors for our guests are welcomed during the day, but not allowed overnight stays. Please let us know if you would like to have any visitor join you for breakfast at an additional charge. Check ins can be flexible; check out is at 3 pm. We ask that you leave the Cottage as neat as you found it (within reason) and call us as soon as possible if there are any major spills or accidents. We will be happy to clean them up for you if you wish.

At the Artist’s Cottage, we simply love animals, and our pet policy is very simple: as long as it fits through the front door, it’s welcomed on our property. We have two dogs that are members of our family, and they will be hosting you along with us. We do ask, however, that all dogs be housebroken, have current vaccinations, and are socialized and able to get along with other dogs. We would also recommend making sure your dog is well trained in following commands, as we have over 90 acres of forests with wildlife, and it’s important that your dog, at the very least, comes when called. If you have a puppy, we will be thrilled to host him/her, but you must bring your own crate and make sure he/she is supervised at all times. Finally, we recognize that pet accidents are bound to happen, and we will ask that you clean up after your dog inside the house. Cleaning supplies for this purpose will be provided.

Rates And reservations

• The Artist’s Cottage is open to guests from April 1st to November 1st. Reservations are available from Thursdays to Mondays. No reservations are usually accepted for Tuesdays or Wednesdays (those are our cleaning days). Exceptions are possible, but not guaranteed. While we are usually closed for the winter months, reservations for winter stays are possible. The Mountain is just as beautiful in January as it is in May, and we have a great heating system in the house, however, winters for some people can be rough up here. Call us for more information.

• Check-in can be flexible, just give us your approximate time of arrival. Check-out is 3 pm. You will be welcomed at the Cottage by either Tom or Alex, given a short tour, and handed a set of keys. You will not see us again unless you need us.

• $400.00 per night. Two nights minimum; this includes breakfast and all taxes.

• The cost of the entire reservation is required at the time of booking. If there are any additional fees incurred during your stay, they will be charged upon check-out.

• In addition, there is a $300 Security Fee due at the time of reservation. The Security Fee will be promptly refunded within the week after departure, provided that there are no damages to the property.

• If you require Pet-Sitting services, there is a fee of $30 per day.

• CANCELATION POLICY - Due to the small size of our Cottage and its single reservation, we are greatly affected by untimely cancellations, and we firmly adhere to our cancelation policy.

• If you cancel more than 7 days prior to your arrival, we will refund what you have paid for your reservation, less a 30% processing fee, and we will refund the entire $300 Security Fee. Cancellations with less than 7 days notice are fully non-refundable for the amount of the reservation; however, the $300 Security Fee will be fully refunded. Reducing the length of your stay or an early departure is considered a cancellation.

• DAMAGES TO THE PROPERTY - For the duration of your stay, The Artist’s Cottage will be your home. Please treat it as such. No candles, oil lamps or open flame devices of any kind are permitted anywhere inside the premises. Guests will be held responsible and will be charged for repair, replacement, permanent damages, or losses to linens, towels, furniture, furnishings or other items. You will find all the art works and objects that are offered for sale photographed and filed in a binder marked “AVAILABLE ART”, with price and descriptions; some of these prices can be negotiable.

• With the single exception of the small work of art we offer you as a token of thanks and appreciation for your stay, as well as any other welcoming gifts we might provide (such as fruit), nothing is to be removed from the property unless it has been paid for. Please be aware that, aside from keeping your $300 Security Deposit, we will seek monetary reimbursement for any missing items, and we are willing to pursue such loss to the full extent of the law. Both Tom and Alex find it sad and extremely regrettable that this needs to be stated.

• The Artist’s Cottage provides a box of supplies in case of an accident (such as a spill or staining to furniture or carpets) caused by guests or their pets. Please let us know if there is an accident and something needs to be cleaned immediately in order to avoid permanent damage and possible related charges. We will be more than glad to clean it for you.
